Formation for Children and Youth

 As Christians, one of our primary calls is to pass on our faith to our children.  Primarily this happens in the home.  That said, the church community also plays a key role in faith development.

 

·     Nursery infants-6 years, a safe place for creepers, toddlers and early elementary age children. Staffed by early education professionals, the nursery is open from 8:50 to 11:30am.

       

·     Early Elementary  Children in Pre-School through 2nd grade.

Godly Play is a program that invites children into a relationship with God by experiencing sacred storytelling, liturgical action, reflection & wondering questions.

            

·     Middlers Those in 3rd-5th grades.

Live B. I. G. (Live your Belief in God) uses a multi-media approach to learning about God’s love and how to share that love with others around us using videos, Bible stories, games, music, discussion, imagination, education, and so much more.

 

·     Rite 13, for 6th & 7th Graders, is the first 2 years of a 6 year program. This portion is structured around the Bible story of Jesus, at the age of 13, in the Temple. During their time in Rite 13 the youth study prayer, self, community and spirituality. In May  students are recognized as having reached the transition from child to Manhood/Womanhood.

·     Journey 2 Adulthood (J2A), for 8th & 9th graders, is the second 2 years of the 6 year program. During these 2 years teens focus on self, spirituality, sexuality and community. In the spring of their second year, they engage in a course of study to prepare for Confirmation, and their J2A experience culminates with a holy pilgrimage (2012).

 

·     Young Adults in the Church (YAC), for 10th-12th graders, is a post-Confirmation program for teens as they explore their strengths and learn to develop them as well as figure out how God and the faith community will have a place in their lives.
