| Who are the Ministers of the Church? All of the
Baptized are the ministers. The role of the clergy isn't to do the
ministry for the people but to encourage, train, and support the
ministry of the baptized. The Bible tells us that there are many gifts
of the spirit, and that they are shared in the lives of all in the
community. |
What training is required for ministry? It
depends. Many times it is simply a mentor, or another person who already
does this ministry who tutors someone. In terms of Christian education
we offer training and classes. Those who are acolytes have a regular
training events. Those preparing the diaconate have weekend sessions to
attend sponsored by the diocese. Most of ministry, though, is just
lending a helping hand. |
| Is there an age requirement for ministry? Not at
all. At St. Mark's children take part in worship, for example. When we
had a parish dinner everyone pitched in and that included the junior and
senior high kids. Some of our most senior members, included those over
90, continue to visit other members of the parish. |
What are some examples of ministry at St. Mark's?

Flower Guild. Altar Guild. Parish dinner events. Social Life. Diocesan
committees. Readers. Chalice Bearers. Lay Eucharistic Ministry. Ushers.
